Sports Afield will be 130 years old in 2017. Founded by Mr. Claude King of Denver Colorado, who started publishing the magazine on a monthly basis in 1888, initial issues were newspaper print and 8 pages long.
With an abundance of classic Sports Afield covers in our archives, along with complete digital copies of the entire first year, we decided 2017 was the perfect year to make a nice commemorative hardcover book celebrating America’s oldest name in outdoors. This book spotlights over 400 of the best covers and gives a detailed history of Sports Afield on a decade by decade basis.
