Moravia, New York (Cayuga)
Large acreage located just south of the Village of Moravia. Fantastic all around recreational property that offers so much. Centrally located in the Finger Lakes Region with the Owasco inlet running through the middle of the property offering opportunities for duck hunting, trout fishing and trapping. As you enter the property which has road frontage on Route 38, the topography is near table-top level and the farm fields offer fertile silt loam soils. There are a few hedgerows that offer cover for deer and other wildlife in the back fields. The land consists of 52 tillable acres and the remaining 153 acres is a mix of dense lowland woods and upland forest. The entrance to the farm road makes easy access to the front and back fields and the east side of the Owasco inlet. The farm fields are currently leased to a local Organic farmer who has been planting rotational crops and hay. The soils are very desirable, productive and above average.
The Valley that extends from the south end of Owasco Lake and several miles to the south is notorious for having rich valley soils and tons of big game. The Owasco inlet offers fishing for brown and rainbow trout that swim up the inlet to spawn in spring. There are several fishing holes located on the property which can also hold brook trout. This stretch of the inlet is only a few miles south of the lake and offers a great spot to duck hunt in the fall. When I walked the property I spotted two areas that had mallards along the inlet. There are a couple of areas that are shallow water with rocky bottoms that make it easy to cross the inlet by foot or on ATV. After crossing the inlet there is a single trail that leads up to several trails that criss-cross all sides of the property. This is a very diverse property that offers some dense bottom land forests with upland hardwoods with areas of oak and maple.
